The Avenger - what a film

Avengers Wall Mural

I took my youngest son to see The Avengers film the other day.  An amazing cinematic experience and one not to be missed!  The Marvel characters have certainly stood the test of time and this film contains something for everyone, whether you enjoy the action or, like me, just enjoy watching very handsome men doing something heroic.

Luckily, since he has talked of little else since, we at Funky Monkey Bedrooms sell The Avengers Wallpaper mural which he has his heart set on to replace his current kids wallpaper mural which is our Transformers option.  Just when I thought the decorating was finished!

Our kids wallpaper murals come in packs of 12 panels which are stuck to the wall to form a complete kids wallpaper mural.  They are easy to paste and handle because they come in short lengths and the results on a wall are spectacular.  The kids wallpaper murals are bright, accurately printed and of good quality. Just paste and hang and stand back and admire the results.  It took me very little time to apply my sons wallpaper and I found it easier than I thought it was going to be and his room is quite transformed.  Once I have removed that wallpaper and put up his Avengers wall mural the look will be different once again.

The Avengers wallpaper features all the main characters from the film, including, Captain America (wonderfully decent and heroic), The Incredible Hulk (the ultimate Jeckyll and Hyde personality), Iron Man (selfish and irresponsible but ultimately a complete hero) and the thoroughly handsome Thor, whose brother Loki is the cause of all the trouble.

The film itself was fabulous and since then our Avengers wallpaper has been flying off our shelves faster than Iron Man could manage himself.

Check out our kids wallpaper murals, not just for the Avengers wall mural but for numerous other options, such as Transformers, Dreamworks, Sea Adventure and Dinosaurs, to name but a few.

We carry a wide range of wallpapers for kids, all equally spectacular on the wall.

Transform your child’s room easily and quickly with our kids wallpaper murals - with over 45 different designs to choose from all with FREE UK delivery.

Our full range can be viewed HERE.

Beatrix Potter Nursery Accessories

Peter Rabbit Nursery Accessories

Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit and friends has been popular for as long as we can all remember.

As children, we grew up with Peter Rabbit and continue to love him as adults.

Here at Funky Monkey Bedrooms, we offer a wide range of Beatrix Potter nursery accessories, ranging from wall stickers to cot mobiles.

Many people, when expecting a new baby, decide upon a Peter Rabbit Nursery theme.

Our Beatrix Potter wall stickers are beautiful, easy to apply and remove and enhance any Beatrix Potter nursery decor.

We are excited to have a couple of new products to add to our Beatrix Potter nursery accessories range.

The Peter Rabbit Musical Mobile is a welcome new addition.  A soft, beautifully finished mobile featuring Peter Rabbit, hearts and butterflies that plays the soothing Brahms lullaby to send baby gently off to sleep.  It’s easy to assemble with a wind up musical box.  A perfect addition to any cot!

Another new addition to our Beatrix Potter nursery decor range is our Beatrix Potter nursery theme wooden bookends.  These charming bookends are a beautiful addition to any Beatrix Potter Nursery theme.  They are a traditional design with Beatrix Potter’s most famous creations, Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-duck, made from high quality rubber wood and will safely hold all your favourite Beatrix Potter books in place.

And if you want to go for a Peter Rabbit nursery theme, how about adding one of our beautiful decorative light switch covers.  We have three different designs,  Peter Rabbit and Mr McGregor,  Peter Rabbit in his garden eating Mr McGregor’s carrots (naughty Peter Rabbit!) and a four character light switch cover with Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-duck, Squirrel Nutkin and Benjamin Bunny.  Say goodbye to boring light switches.

And to avoid the mess that little ones make at feeding time, how about our Beatrix Potter accessories place mats featuring Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny in Mr McGregor’s garden, beautifully finished and a wonderful addition to mealtimes.

Fisher Price Animals of the Rainforest Cot Bedding Set - Latest News...

Fisher Price Animals of the Rainforest Cot Bedding Set
We sold out of the Fisher Price Animals of the Rainforest cot bedding set some months ago but still continue to receive frequent enquiries regarding this very popular nursery bedding range.

We were informed that there was going to be a new design of the Animals of the Rainforest cot bedding set available in March/April this year but we have just had confirmation that unfortunately this is not the case as Mattel would like to move forward with products under Fisher Price Discover & Grow instead of Animals of the Rainforest.

We know this news will disappointment many of our customers as Animals of the Rainforest was a very popular choice for decorating the nursery but we are hoping that you will like the new Fisher Price Discover and Grow design that will be available in June this year.

Charlie and The Gruffalo

Charlie
As we all know children have favourite T.V shows, favourite characters and favourite books, well my 5 year old son is no different. Ever since Charlie was 2 years old he has insisted that I read him ‘The Gruffalo’, every night before bed, and yes I mean every night!

In the beginning I assumed it was just a phase that would soon pass before something else took pride of place on his bookshelf, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

When the time came to decorate Charlie’s bedroom, I foolishly asked him what he would like, it came as no surprise really when he said he wanted a Gruffalo themed room, and so the search began.
Thankfully, with the internet being the wonderful piece of technology it is, it didn’t take me too long to find Funky Monkey Bedrooms and the inspiration that I needed for project Gruffalo to commence. I couldn’t believe my luck when I came across a company online that sold everything that I needed to make my son’s favourite story book come to life.
Gruffalo wall stickers, curtains, duvet covers and cushions too, I could just imagine Charlie’s eyes light up when he saw his new bedroom, and a few weeks later, when project Gruffalo was completed, I wasn’t disappointed, the look on his little face was absolutely priceless!!
Charlie loves his bedroom so much, he loves to spend time in there, playing, drawing pictures and colouring, sometimes it’s almost as if I have a teenager living with me who locks themselves away in their bedroom.

More recently it was National Book Week at Charlie’s school, no surprises for guessing which book Charlie chose to read. For homework Charlie (with some help from mummy) had to research his favourite book, and draw a picture, something about the book that wasn’t obvious from just reading it. Again after searching online, I was amazed to find out so many facts about ‘The Gruffalo’, for example it has been published in several different languages including Polish, Hebrew, Lithuanian and Russian, and that the characters had too have several costume changes before the book was finally illustrated and sent to be published, as it was felt that there was too much of a German theme developing.
Charlie was so pleased with the collage that we created, on Monday morning he couldn’t wait to take it too school and explain each and every picture to his teachers and fellow class mates, he was so proud of himself when he came out of school later in the week, with the ‘worker of the week’ class certificate, for being so imaginative with his Gruffalo project.

This still remains to be Charlie’s favourite book, I’m sure as the years go by he will outgrow this book and move onto something else, well I am hoping so, I think his friends may have something to say about it when he reaches 16 and is still reading it, although knowing Charlie nothing would surprise me!!

Cot Bumper Safety - Guidelines for New Mums

Little Red Car Cot Bumper
To use a Cot Bumper or Not to? - This is a very common question amongst new mums.
Shopping for your nursery bedding is one of the easiest and most cost effective ways of theming a newly decorated nursery and with the many hundreds of beautiful designs that are now available, shopping for it is so much fun!

When shopping for nursery bedding there are a few things you need to consider and some nursery bedding can be potentially dangerous for your baby by causing suffocation and overheating.

The cot bumper has become a much debated subject amongst new mums as some worry that they may be unsafe but then how do you prevent bruised arms and legs and bumps on the head?

The best way to reach the right solution for you whether to use a cot bumper or not, is to understand why cot bumpers can pose a potential hazard.

Cot bumpers are not recommended for several reasons:
  • They inhibit the circulation of fresh air around the cot - Rebreathing the same air until the oxygen content has been depleted is considered a contributing factor towards SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)
  • Cot bumpers can become loose and represent an entanglement and strangulation hazard.
  • A soft pillowy bumper can cause suffocation if the baby's face becomes wedged against it.
  • Cot bumpers can be used by older babies to help them climb out of the cot.
But there are ways to overcome the above potential problems by using the following guidelines:

  • Ensure there is a space between the cot bumper and the cot mattress to allow for airflow
  • Regularly check the ties on the cot bumper are secure alternatively, you can weave the cot bumper in and out of the slats so that it cannot come loose.
  • Choose a cot bumper that is flat and firm and not too pillowy
  • Remove cot bumpers at five months or when your baby starts getting up onto his hands and knees in the cot.
The cot bumper only poses a suffocation hazard once the baby becomes mobile, so use a cot bumper for a newborn but maybe consider removing it once your baby can wriggle into a corner.  You can then put it back on again when your baby becomes more animated in their movement and starts bumping up against the sides of the cot in their effort to crawl.
